Milwaukee Recreation Celebrates New Mountain Biking Program

End-of-season party set for Thursday, November 19

By - Nov 13th, 2015 04:12 pm

Earlier this year, Milwaukee Recreation partnered with Wisconsin High School Cycling League, National Interscholastic Cycling Association, Coast In Bikes, and local cycling enthusiasts to launch a youth mountain biking team called MKE MTB at Riverside University High School (RUHS). The team’s founding coincided with introductory classes (Mountain Biking 101 and 201) at RUHS and MacDowell Montessori for students ages 12 to 18. To celebrate the students’ success during the inaugural season, the team is hosting a potluck dinner and social at Ray’s Indoor Mountain Bike Park, 8365 N. 76th Street, on Thursday, November 19 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM. Anyone interested in attending must RSVP to Bill Koch at bkoch54@sbcglobal.net by Tuesday, November 17.

The end-of-season party will give prospective team members the opportunity to meet staff, hear success stories from current members, see bike demonstrations, receive cycling swag, and learn how to join the team in time for the 2016 season. Registration fees are reasonable and scholarships are available. Bikes, helmets, and clothes are available for team members to use during the season.

Potential sponsors and media representatives are also encouraged to attend the party. Program supervisors will be readily available to answer questions throughout the evening.

Milwaukee Recreation is a department of Milwaukee Public Schools, established in 1911 to provide the entire community with affordable and enriching recreational activities. For more information, visit MilwaukeeRecreation.net or contact Brian Hoffer at (414) 475-8938.
