MILWAUKEE; April 22, 2019 – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced the appointment of members to its Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) and Milwaukee PBS’ General Manager, Bohdan Zachary, has been selected as a member – the first representative from public television in the CAC’s 20-year history.

“I’m honored to have been selected to serve alongside a distinguished group of individuals who will work on issues of importance to the American public,” said Bohdan Zachary, General Manager of Milwaukee PBS.  “I will keep the interests and concerns of public television in mind as we begin our work on June 3rd in Washington, D.C.”

In August 2018, the FCC requested applications for membership for the CAC’s tenth term. From these applications, the FCC Chairman selected 27 members which consist of a diverse mix of organizations representing consumers, the communications industry, government regulators, trade associations, academia, and other stakeholders including four individuals serving as Special Government Employees.

The CAC is organized under, and operated in accordance with, the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) and provides advice and recommendations to the Commission on a wide array of consumer matters specified by the Commission. The CAC will work on issues that the FCC wishes the Committee to address, which will be determined at the CAC’s June 2019 meeting in Washington, D.C. The CAC may also receive briefings from FCC staff on issues of interest to consumers.

For further information on the Consumer Advisory Committee and full a full roster of members, visit the CAC webpage at: www.fcc.gov/consumer-advisory-committee.
