Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley Proclaims April 11-17 as “Week of the Young Child”
Crowley celebrates nationwide recognition during Wednesday visit to Oak Creek child care center
OAK CREEK – Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley proclaimed the current week of April 11-17 as the “Week of the Young Child.” In recognition of this week, County Executive Crowley visited Ebenezer Child Care Center in Oak Creek today to promote the importance of early childhood development and the environments that help children thrive.
“We know providing children a strong start in life will contribute to their future success. I believe it’s critically important to invest in early childhood development and make sure Milwaukee County families have the support they need to realize the bright futures they all deserve,” said County Executive Crowley. “During the Week of the Young Child, let us recommit to uplifting the health, safety, and development of Milwaukee children and creating a community where every child has the opportunity to succeed.”
Additionally, County Executive Crowley highlighted the “Week of the Young Child” yesterday at Wisconsin Community Services in Milwaukee where he signed legislation to deploy $5 million over the next several years to provide FORGE (Family, Opportunity, Resilience, Grit, Engagement) Fatherhood Services that will support parents and their children across Milwaukee County. This program is administered by Milwaukee County’s Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) Child Support Services (CSS) and provides funding to support a broad array of services for adult fathers to care for their children, promote responsible parenthood, and foster economic stability.
