Milwaukee County Board Unanimously Approves Resolution to Enhance Data Governance and Transparency

MILWAUKEE — Today, the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, unanimously approved a resolution calling for improved data governance, increased transparency, and enhanced data-informed decision-making across all County elected offices and departments. Supervisors Logsdon and O’Connor, who coauthored the resolution, issued the following statement:

“Strong data governance and transparency are critical for ensuring Milwaukee County achieves its strategic priorities of health equity, operational excellence, and public accountability. This resolution is a call to action for all departments and elected offices to collaborate in creating a culture of innovation and trust.”
The resolution emphasizes key initiatives, including:

  • Data Sharing: Ensuring timely access to accurate and relevant data across County operations.
  • Best Practices: Standardizing data governance policies to enhance consistency, security, and ethical data use.
  • Transparency: Making data publicly accessible to foster engagement and trust among Milwaukee County residents.
  • Innovation: Encouraging data-driven solutions to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Capacity Building: Providing County staff with the tools and training necessary for data analysis and informed decision-making.

Periodic updates on implementation progress will be provided by the Department of Administrative Services – Information Management Services Division (DAS-IMSD), in collaboration with other departments.

The resolution is coauthored by Supervisors Patti Logsdon and Anne O’Connor and cosponsored by Supervisors Felesia A. Martin, Kathleen Vincent, Deanna Alexander, Shawn Rolland, Sky Z. Capriolo, and Jack Eckblad. It aims to maximize the County’s use of data to better serve residents, improve efficiency, and promote public trust.

The resolution now moves to the desk of Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley for consideration.
