GLENDALE – Theo Lipscomb, current Chairman of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, today announced his candidacy for Milwaukee County Executive:

Lipscomb stated, “Like many people, I too was surprised by County Executive Abele’s decision not to seek re-election. For more than a year, we have been working well together united by a shared commitment to a renewed partnership with the State of Wisconsin, in order to secure a Fair Deal for Milwaukee County. That work simply must continue if we are to secure the future of Milwaukee County. In the discussions I’ve had with countless family, friends and neighbors over the last few weeks, I have been encouraged to step-up once again and continue my work of fighting for Milwaukee County.

“Serving the people of Milwaukee County has been among the greatest honors of my life. As County Board Chairman, I’m the only candidate with practical county experience, knowing the intricacies of county government in a time when Milwaukee County is at a crucial moment in its history. I will continue to address challenging issues like our county finances and deferred maintenance in our parks in honest and nonpartisan ways. Together, as a community, we must work to establish a stronger transit system, maintain open and accessible parks, and increase public safety for all in Milwaukee County.

“Solutions won’t come easily or fast, but it’s going to take effective and efficient leadership to make this happen. And that’s why, as your County Executive, I promise to always work to improve the quality of life for everyone, in every city and village in Milwaukee County.

“Today, I announce my candidacy and hope to earn your support and your vote!”

Chairman Theo Lipscomb was first elected to the County Board in 2008 and is currently serving his fourth term representing the 1st District (Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, Glendale, River Hills and a portion of the northeast side of Milwaukee) – more than 51,000 constituents in all. He has served as Chairman of the Board since July 30, 2015 and is the youngest person to be elected three times as Chairman. As lifelong residents of Milwaukee County, Chairman Lipscomb resides in Glendale with his wife, Nicole, and their three children. The primary election will be held February 18, 2020 and the general election April 7, 2020. For more information, visit www.votersforlipscomb.com
