Milwaukee Bucks Re-Sign Brook Lopez
The Milwaukee Bucks have re-signed center Brook Lopez.
Entering his sixth season with the Bucks, Lopez has averaged 13.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks while shooting 48.2% from the field and 35.1% from three over his last five seasons with Milwaukee. Last season, his 15th in the NBA, Lopez averaged 15.9 points per game – his highest scoring average since the 2016-17 season – 6.7 rebounds and a career-high 2.47 blocks (3rd in NBA) across 78 games (all starts). He also shot 53.1% overall – the second-highest field goal percentage of his career – and a career-high 37.4% from three while leading the league in total blocks with 193, earning All-Defensive First Team honors and being a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year.
A key part of the Bucks’ 2021 NBA Championship, Lopez has played in 65 playoff games (all starts) with Milwaukee and averaged 13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 30.0 minutes per game. In five games this postseason, the 7-foot center averaged 19.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks while shooting 58.2% from the field and 41.2% from three.
Originally selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft out of Stanford, Lopez has appeared in 946 games (906 starts) in his career with New Jersey/Brooklyn, the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee and holds averages of 16.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.4 assists in 30.2 minutes per game while shooting 49.7% overall. Lopez, who is a one-time All-Star and two-time All-Defensive Team selection, has also played in 78 playoff games in his career (all starts) and holds postseason career averages of 14.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
