Showcasing hundreds of works of art made by students in grades 7–12, the 2024 Scholastic Art Awards: Wisconsin Exhibition celebrates the next generation of the state's artists with the entire community.
MILWAUKEE, WI—February 7, 2024—Continuing its decades-long tradition, the Milwaukee Art Museum will present award-winning student-made artwork in the 2024 Scholastic Art Awards: Wisconsin Exhibition. Featuring more than 400 works of art, ranging from digital art to jewelry, the annual exhibition will be free and open to the public February 24–April 7, 2024, in the Museum’s Schroeder Galleria.
“The Milwaukee Art Museum is thrilled to host the annual Wisconsin region exhibition of the prestigious Scholastic Art Awards, providing an opportunity for the next generation of artists to showcase their creativity at a significant time in their artistic growth,” said Sarah Ozurumba, Manager of School and Teacher Programs.
The 2024 exhibition features 404 artworks juried by regional arts professionals, including artists, university faculty, and gallerists. From more than 2,700 entries, the jury selected award-winning pieces from 16 categories: Architecture and Industrial Design, Ceramics and Glass, Comic Art, Design, Digital Art, Drawing and Illustration, Editorial Cartoon, Expanded Projects, Fashion, Film and Animation, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. 233 artworks were granted the Silver Key, receiving statewide recognition; 171 artworks were granted the Gold Key and will later compete at the national level in New York City.
“It’s a joy to work with and support creative, thoughtful teens in the Museum’s programs, and this exhibition is an exciting opportunity to showcase the many talents of young artists from across the state of Wisconsin,” said Ahmari Benton, Associate Educator of Teen Programs.
The 2024 Scholastic Art Awards: Wisconsin Exhibition is free and open to the public February 24–April 7, 2024, in Schroeder Galleria, accessible from the Museum’s Windhover Hall entrance. The Museum will host a celebratory Awards Day on March 2, 2024.
