Milwaukee Area Nonprofits Receive $50,000 in Federal Grants Through North Shore Bank and Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago Partnership
BROOKFIELD, Wis. – North Shore Bank today announced that Milwaukee-area nonprofit, ACTS Housing was selected to be the beneficiary of the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Chicago Community First Capacity-Building Grant Program and will now receive a grant for $50,000. Additionally, North Shore Bank and FHLB awarded Milwaukee County Service Corps (MCSC) and Milwaukee Urban League each with $5,000 grants as part of the FHLB of Chicago Targeted Impact Fund.
North Shore Bank submitted an application on behalf of ACTS Housing for the FHLB of Chicago Community First Capacity-Building Grant Program, which helps strengthen a nonprofit community development lender to support the affordable housing and/or economic development programs the organization provides to the local communities in which they, and the member financial institution, serve. ACTS Housing provides home buyer and financial counseling, real estate brokerage, rehab expertise, and affordable loans to families with barriers living in Milwaukee and Beloit. ACTS Housing will use the $50,000 to improve information technology and systems to create an automated virtual orientation process for families, which will increase the organization’s ability to service more families in a meaningful way and furthering their mission in providing empowerment through home ownership.
“As a community bank, our mission is to support those that are uplifting, educating and improving their own communities and ACTS Housing, MCSC and Milwaukee Urban League are doing just that. We know that by providing them these grants, they will be able to support even more families and individuals in the Milwaukee community,” said Kristen Gagliano, vice president of compliance at North Shore Bank. Gagliano also serves on ACTS Housing Board of Directors since 2016.
In addition to these funds, North Shore Bank plans to sponsor future FHLB grants and is continuously looking for ways to support community partners.
