MATC Men’s Basketball Team on Historic Run Toward Championship
For the first time ever, the 7th-ranked Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) Stormers Men’s Basketball team is in the semi-finals with a chance to play for the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II championship.
The Stormers are on an historic run.
- They advanced to the semi-final game after upsetting the No. 2 seed Niagara County Community College 79-65 Wednesday night.
- The team was featured in February as the NJCAA Game of the Week which was live-streamed on the national platform ESPN+.
- Head Coach Randy Casey was named Coach of the Year by the North Central Community College Conference (N4C). Coach Casey was also named the Region 4 – Midwest B District Coach of the Year.
- MATC Stormers’ freshman guard/forward Shelton Williams-Dryden was named N4C Player of the Year.
- Freshman Mason Johnson reached the milestone of scoring 1,000 career points.
- Three Stormers selected for N4C All-Conference Teams: Freshman guard DeMarco Clayton and sophomore point guard Milake Stevenson were selected to the First Team while freshman guard Ke’Varius “KJ” Taylor earned a spot on the N4C Second Team.
