MATC Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with More Than 30 Activities, Events
MILWAUKEE (Sept. 14, 2021) – Milwaukee Area Technical College will host a wide range of events in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15-Oct. 15 each year.
Organized by the college’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Office of Student Life; and the Latinx Unidos student organization; conversations range from timely discussions on “Latinx Leadership Post Pandemic,” DACA and immigration. Presenters will include Hispanic employees, students, college leaders and motivational speakers. Other activities include games, trivia, storytelling, arts and cultural crafts, dance lessons and competitions, a cooking lesson and movies.
The free, public events will be held at all MATC Campuses in Downtown Milwaukee, Mequon, Oak Creek and West Allis and at the MATC Education Center at Walker’s Square. Visit https://www.matc.edu/community/hispanic-heritage-month/hhm-events.html for a complete calendar of activities.
The celebration comes as MATC continues its efforts to be recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), which will bring resources to help Hispanic students — and all students — succeed.
