Marquette Plays Northern Illinois to Scoreless Draw
Marquette remains undefeated through six games to open the season for the first time since 2005
MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University women’s soccer team (3-0-3, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) played to a scoreless draw against Northern Illinois (1-2-2, 0-0-0 HORIZON) on Sunday afternoon at Valley Fields.
Marquette recorded 19 shots, including eight on goal, while Northern Illinois finished with 10 shots and five shots on goal. Marquette goalkeeper Mia Hurd made five saves to record her fourth shutout of the season.
Marquette generated six shots in the opening half before increasing its offensive pressure after halftime, recording 13 shots in the second half. Megan Murray and Emily Fix each recorded three shots, while Kylie McMinn added two shots, including two on goal.
The Golden Eagles continued to create opportunities throughout the second half but were unable to find the back of the net, settling for their third consecutive draw.
