Pfister Hotel and InterContinental Milwaukee Offer Many Opportunities for Guests to Give Back in October through Special Cocktails and Gallery Night Activities

By - Oct 17th, 2016 01:35 pm

MILWAUKEE – October 17, 2016 – The Pfister® Hotel and InterContinental® Milwaukee, both owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, will be honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a variety of special cocktails throughout the month of October. The hotels will also be celebrating the Milwaukee art community with several art exhibits as part of the Historic Third Ward’s Gallery Night and Day festivities.

Gallery Night events will be happening at both The Pfister Hotel and InterContinental Milwaukee Friday, October 21 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.  A public reception at The Pfister Hotel will follow in the Rouge Ballroom from 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., featuring music by the Donna Woodall Group, complimentary snacks and a cash bar. At Gallerie M, inside the InterContinental Milwaukee, artist Natalja Yatsuka is partnering with ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis during an opening reception.

Gallery Night and Day at The Pfister Hotel

During Gallery Night and Day, guests are invited to view new artwork from the hotel’s eighth Artist-in-Residence, Pamela Anderson. The pieces are the second group of paintings from her Gilded Series, which focuses on her experiences within the elegant Pfister Hotel.

Guests will also have the chance to visit The Pfister’s Pop-Up Gallery to view artwork from artist Leonard “Porkchop” Zimmerman, who is the subject of HAPPY, a documentary by Milwaukee filmmaker Michael McKinley, which was featured at this year’s Milwaukee Film Festival.

Gallery Night at the InterContinental Milwaukee Hotel

Gallerie M at the InterContinental Milwaukee features a new exhibit from Natalja Yatsuka, entitled “Evolution of Pink.” As a former associate at The Pfister Hotel’s WELL Spa + Salon, Yatsuka first shared her artwork as part of the Marcus associate art contest, “The Art of Marcus.” Over the years, she has supported Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the InterContinental’s Pink Room events by volunteering to do pink nails and hair extensions. For the second year in a row, she is showcasing her pink paintings in Gallerie M.

Her work for Gallerie M highlights vivid variations of pink, and serves as a continued reminder of the need to fight breast cancer. During the post gallery reception, all guests who wear pink or who donate $20 to ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, will be entered in a drawing for a chance to take home one of Yatsuka’s paintings. Twenty-five percent of proceeds from all art sales throughout the entire exhibit, which ends Oct. 31, will go to ABCD, as well.

“I feel privileged to have the opportunity to share my passion for art and painting with the public and for a crucial cause,” said Yatsuka. “My grandmother and mother both encouraged my artistic interests from a young age, whether through knitting, needlepoint or painting. They have truly inspired my collection at Gallerie M.”

About The Pfister Hotel

The Pfister Hotel has been the premier hotel in downtown Milwaukee for over 120 years.  Originally built in 1893 by businessman Guido Pfister, it was the most lavish hotel of its time. The hotel’s storied elegance had faded following World War II, until 1962, when Ben Marcus, founder of The Marcus Corporation purchased this grand hotel out of bankruptcy.  The Marcus family renovated and restored the hotel to its original glory, adding convention facilities, a parking garage and 23-story guest tower. The Pfister Hotel remains home to the largest collection of Victorian art of any hotel in the world, and recently unveiled an interactive augmented reality tour of pieces in this impressive collection.

Today the Pfister Hotel continues its tradition of gracious service and impeccable style, and has been recognized for 39 consecutive years by AAA as a Four-Diamond property.  The hotel is also an ongoing member of two prestigious organizations, the Historic Hotels of America and Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. The Pfister Hotel is located at 424 E. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee. More information and updates on the hotel can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/thePfisterHotel and on Twitter (@PfisterHotel).
