Local Restaurants, Home Cooks Donating to Help St. Ann Center Chili & Jewelry Sale

Feeling winter’s chill? Taste the heat at the Warm Your Heart Chili and Jewelry Sale, Saturday, Nov. 18, at St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care-Stein Campus, 2801 E. Morgan Ave. Open 9 a.m.-1 p.m., this special sale will feature chili from popular Milwaukee restaurants, an array of beautiful vintage jewelry, and a market filled with produce and crafts..

The sumptuous variety of chili will range from chicken to vegetarian and mild to spicy, served with all the fixings. There’ll be a selection of home-cooked classics, too, made by friends of St. Ann Center. Chili will be sold in flights, so you can sample several types, or you can opt for a brimming bowlful of your favorite.

A perfect place to start your holiday shopping, the sale will feature hundreds of pieces of vintage, retro and heirloom jewelry—from rings, necklaces and bracelets to pins, earrings (both clip-on and pierced) and watches. Costume jewelry is  donated to St. Ann Center throughout the year; volunteers sort clean, repair, card and price each eye-catching piece. Pieces too damaged for wearing are sold in bulk for artists and crafters.

Jewelry fans will also find unique creations designed and handcrafted by Sr. Edna Lonergan, St. Ann Center founder and president. Sr. Edna began designing jewelry years ago as a pastime and a way to supplement funding for the children, elderly and adults with disabilities served by St. Ann Center.

The center’s sunny atrium will be filled with up to 30 vendors selling everything from locally grown produce to handcrafts and gourmet foods to pet products and themed gift baskets. There’ll be live music by the Non Prophets from 10 a.m. to noon. Free chair massages will help you relax. Pet massages will be demonstrated by one of our therapists specially trained to work on dogs and cats.

Restaurants donating chili include Bartolotta Restaurant Group, Beans & Barley, Café Lulu, Café Corazon, Café Centraal,C-viche, On The Bayou, Cudahy Burger Joint, Sam’s Tap andThe Backyard.
