Indaba Nights–the free Wednesday evening entertainment series for all ages–will return this summer to the Indaba Band Shell, 2450 W. North Ave, with familly-friendly performances from 6:30-8:30 p.m., June 1 through August 31.

The band shell, opened in 2019, is on the grounds of St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care-Bucyrus Campus.  The summer 2022 schedule offers an exciting mix of new talent, well-established local favorites and world-class art organizations like the Ko-Thi Dance Company, the Milwaukee Ballet, Black Arts MKE and more.

Cache MKE, a crowd favorite from last summer, will kick off the series June 1 as part of Latino/Soul Night. Theme nights are new this summer; others scheduled include Blues Nights, 70s/80s Night and a special pre-Father’s Day event.

“We really want people to dance and have a great time,” said Gloria Miller, St. Ann Center’s special events director. “So they can come prepared to salsa dance at Latino/Soul Night, wear their favorite blues hat for Blues Night–and I hope they’ll come decked out in bell-bottoms or disco wear for 70s/80s Night!”

Miller encourages concert-goers to bring their own camp chairs, noting that a limited number of folding chairs will be set up on the paved area in front of the stage. Or, she said, people can bring a blanket to sit on the grassy hill for easy social distancing.  Picnicking is allowed, and food trucks have again been invited for anyone interested in buying a meal or snacks to enjoy during the performances. Free parking is available in the lots or on the streets outside the band shell.
