Hypocrisy of GOP Legislators on Absentee Voting Now Accessible to Voters

MADISON, Wis. — Over 80 percent of Republican members of the Wisconsin State Legislature cast an absentee ballot in the April 7th elections, despite opposing making it easier for citizens to vote by mail. These politicians chose to stay safe, even as many of their constituents were forced to risk their health to vote at the polls. To help constituents hold their legislators accountable for this hypocrisy, A Better Wisconsin Together (ABWT) has unveiled a new online tool.

Wisconsinites can quickly and easily access information about whether their representatives have been casting absentee ballots themselves while making it harder and more complicated for the rest of us to have our voices heard. ABWT’s site not only informs voters about their legislators’ voting history since 2018, but also provides links for voters to contact their representatives or share this information on Twitter.

Said Executive Director Nicole Safar, “Safe voting should be available to all registered Wisconsin voters, not just Republican legislators. We deserve to know whether our representatives are saying one thing and doing another when it comes to absentee ballots.”
