‘How to be an Involved Citizen’ presented May 10 by League of Women Voters at United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay

Have you ever wondered how to find out what’s happening in local, state or national government? How to get involved in what is going on? Or how you can share your views and ideas with others?

On Tuesday, May 10, from 7-8 p.m., the Church and Society team of United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay (UMCWFB) partners with the League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County. They will present “How to be an Involved Citizen,” an in-person and live-streamed program. The program is free and open to all.

Visit umcwfb.org for information about live-streaming. For those attending in person, the church is located at 819 E. Silver Spring Dr. in Whitefish Bay.

The program will help attendees:
• Identify how to advocate for ideas or beliefs
• Explore options for taking action
• Learn how to engage with elected officials and policymakers
•  Review the legislative process
• Discover ways to track legislation or proposals at local, state and national levels

The League of Women Voters was founded in 1920 and is a nonpartisan, grassroots, nonprofit group dedicated to empowering everyone to fully participate in the democratic process.

The vision of UMCWFB is to assist people to become deeply committed followers of Jesus Christ who love God, care for each other and serve in the world.
