Hip-Hop Week MKE, in partnership with The Rave, the Milwaukee Public Library, and the Office of African American Affairs (OAAA), will hold a special Voter Registration Event at The Rave on Thursday, October 3.

Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II, coordinator of Hip-Hop Week MKE and also a sponsor of the event, said the voter registration initiative will coincide with a concert featuring music from Juvenile and the 400 Degreez Band – Back That Azz Up 25th anniversary tour, with opening act Mannie Fresh. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Khalif J. Rainey, former Common Council member and the founder of Hip-Hop Week, is also helping to organize HHW events. Mr. Rainey is now the director of the OAAA.

Alderman Stamper said the November 5 Fall General Election will be “the highest stakes election in U.S. history,” and he urges everyone of voting age to exercise their right to vote.

“This event on October 3rd will be sensational with Juvenile and Mannie Fresh filling up The Rave with great music and showmanship, and we will have a booth set up inside the venue for anybody who would like to register to vote,” the Alderman said. “In our democracy, every vote is important and every voter makes a difference!”
