Dangerously cold wind chill temperatures are on the way starting later this evening and lasting through the afternoon on Sunday, December 25. As such, we must support our fellow residents in need of assistance during this time.

St. Ben’s Parish (930 W. State St.) and Repairers of the Breach (1335 W. Vliet St.) have drop-in warming shelters available for individuals without stable housing. Additionally, the Milwaukee County Homeless Outreach Team will be conducting street outreach on December 22 and December 23 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. to locate and triage people into warming sites. Anyone who witnesses an individual living outside during these extreme temperatures should contact the Milwaukee County Homeless Outreach Team at outreach@milwaukeecountywi.gov with the location and general description of the individual.

Also, remember to check on family members and friends who may be at-risk for injuries or illness, especially the elderly and those with certain medical conditions, and minimize time outdoors for children and pets.

We must all do our part to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and our fellow Milwaukeeans safe during these frigid conditions.
