MILWAUKEE – Governor Scott Walker today highlighted Wisconsin’s historically strong economy and the state’s ranking as one of the top 10 states for manufacturing job creation at the Independent Business Association of Wisconsin’s (IBAW) 2018 Manufacturing Summit. The Governor was also awarded the IBAW’s Bart Adams Award for Public Service, which recognizes individuals who have made the greatest impact on Wisconsin businesses.

“Wisconsin is one of the top 10 states for manufacturing jobs since we took office thanks to our reforms and our growing economy,” said Governor Walker. “Moving forward, we want to make sure that our small, independent employers continue to have a strong environment and the tools they need to keep hiring Wisconsin workers and growing into the 21st century.”

According to monthly job estimates released by the U.S. Department of Labor, Wisconsin has created 53,400 manufacturing jobs since Governor Walker took office through August 2018. This positions Wisconsin as a top 10 state for manufacturing jobs under Governor Walker.

IBAW was formed in 1973 to serve the needs of small, independent business in Wisconsin. Members own businesses with 50 employees or less and are independent business owners, managers, or professionals seeking a meaningful business relationship.

“The Governor has played a lead role in bringing new manufacturing jobs to Wisconsin and helping existing manufacturing to expand. This means a strong Wisconsin now and for future generations,” said Steve Kohlmann, IBAW Executive Director. “Today we presented Governor Walker with the 2018 Bart Adams Award. This award is given to the individual who has positively impacted Wisconsin business the most. With his ‘Wisconsin is open for business’ attitude; Governor Walker has made our state an attractive place for new business to locate to and for existing businesses to expand in.”
