Gov. Evers Blasts President Trump Over Reports of Executive Order Aimed at Decimating the U.S. Department of Education
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers yesterday released a statement regarding new reports from the Wall Street Journal that President Donald Trump plans to sign an executive order as early as Thursday aimed at decimating the U.S. Department of Education. Gov. Evers, who’s spent most of his life fighting for Wisconsin’s kids and schools as a former teacher, principal, superintendent, and the state superintendent in Wisconsin, blasted the proposal:
“I’ve spent my life fighting for Wisconsin’s kids. I’ve been a teacher, a principal, a superintendent, and the state superintendent. I know Wisconsin’s kids and our schools—this decision would be catastrophic for them. There’s no question. I’m sorry, but this is bullshit.“I will fight every effort by President Trump and his administration to mess with our schools, our kids, and their futures—most especially when he has no legal power or authority to do what he’s doing. This is bad for our kids, bad for our schools, and bad for Wisconsin.”
