Gov. Evers Appoints John Remington to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers announced today his appointment of John Remington to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court – Branch 6. The appointment will fill the vacancy created by Judge Ellen Brostrom’s resignation, effective May 3, 2024. Remington will complete a term ending July 31, 2025.
“John Remington is a respected attorney well known for his good judgment and strong work ethic,” said Gov. Evers. “He will be an exceptional judge for the people of Milwaukee County.”
“I have known John for his entire career at Quarles & Brady LLP and worked extensively with him during that time until my appointment to the Court of Appeals in 2019, and I have continued to keep up with him and his career since that time,” said former District II Court of Appeals Judge Jeffrey Davis. “John’s work at Quarles has been exemplary, and he is, in addition, an absolute pleasure to work with. There is no question in my mind that John possesses the intellect, judgment, and temperament to be an outstanding circuit court judge, and the people of Wisconsin, and Milwaukee in particular, will benefit greatly from his ascendancy to the bench.”
Remington lives in the Enderis Park neighborhood of Milwaukee with his family and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. In addition to his involvement in numerous professional organizations, he is an active member of the Milwaukee Rowing Club, the University of Wisconsin W Club, and the Catholic East Elementary School Advisory Council.
“It is a great honor to follow Judge Ellen Brostrom as the sitting judge in Milwaukee County Circuit Court – Branch 6,” said Remington. “I am grateful to Gov. Evers for his confidence in me. Milwaukee has been a wonderful place to live and raise a family—I am eager to serve our community in this new way by applying the law fairly and diligently and by treating everyone who appears in my courtroom with respect. I would also like to thank my mentors and colleagues, past and present, who encouraged and guided me along this path.”
