Golden Eagles Fall to Friars
The Marquette University women’s soccer team (6-6-4, 2-3-3 BIG EAST) opened their three-game BIG EAST road trip Wednesday night at Providence (5-6-3, 2-4-2 BIG EAST) but dropped a 5-0 decision, extending their losing streak to three games.
Providence struck early, scoring in the 12th minute and adding a second just five minutes later. The Friars would make it 3-0 in the 25th minute, a deficit Marquette carried into halftime after holding strong for the final 20 minutes of the first half. In the second half, Providence added two more goals in the 69th and 71st minutes to seal the outcome.Marquette goalkeeper Hailey Wade recorded four saves in just under 60 minutes before Elise Krone entered for the final half-hour. The Golden Eagles were outshot 17–6 overall and 9–2 in shots on goal.
