WAUWATOSA, WI. April 13, 2017—NEWaukee and Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) officials today presented GE Healthcare with a 2017 Bubbler Award.

Every year, NEWaukee hosts the Bubbler Awards: Best Workplaces for Young Professionals in Wisconsin as a kickoff to YPWeek. The Bubbler Awards shine a light on companies’ achievements in serving the interests and needs of younger workers.

“Wisconsin-based companies realize how important it is to keep our young talent here and encourage them to grow and become the next generation of leaders across all industries,” said Angela Damiani, CEO of NEWaukee. “We are proud to highlight companies like GE Healthcare that have made it a priority to create an environment that allows not only young professionals, but all their employees, to connect to both their workplace and community in unique and valuable ways.”

NEWaukee and WEDC leaders presented the award on site and met with the company’s employees to learn about GE Healthcare’s efforts to become a place where young professionals enjoy working. Among those visiting were WEDC Secretary Mark R. Hogan and NEWaukee CEO Angela Damiani.

GE Healthcare, a manufacturer of medical devices and digital industrial capacities, employs 6,000 people in southeastern Wisconsin. The company is known for its leadership development programs that attract young professionals and its contemporary approaches to creating a dynamic corporate culture.

“We are proud of our work environment and the thoughtful approaches we take to making GE an employer of choice,” stated GE Healthcare Vice President of Human Resources Raghu Krishnamoorthy. “We have a mindset and corporate culture that fits with young professionals, and we continuously make improvements to sustain employee engagement and provide successful careers long-term.”

“GE Healthcare exemplifies the type of strong leadership that is needed to establish the state as an ideal workplace destination for young professionals,” explained Tricia Braun, WEDC deputy secretary and chief operating officer. “WEDC and its many partners, including the state’s young professionals’ groups, are working together to promote Wisconsin as a destination for business, personal and professional fulfillment. That’s why it’s important for us to celebrate companies like GE Healthcare, which is putting the Think-Make-Happen concept into action.”

The Bubbler Awards are part of YPWeek Wisconsin, and highlight the innovative approaches businesses are taking to attract and retain talent. The nomination evaluation centered on what Millennials are looking for in today’s workplace, including a competitive salary and benefits; opportunities for advancement; and employee and community engagement. YPWeek incorporates this platform into its programming, leveraging “Think-Make-Happen” as an organizing theme. Now in its third year, YPWeek Wisconsin 2017 features more than 175 events and 30 public projects occurring in 25 cities across the state.
