April 24, 2023 (MILWAUKEE)—Dominion Properties, a leading Milwaukee-based real estate owner and property management company, today announced “Shorewood Hub Presents FRESH 40,” a juried exhibition and sale of works by some of the top artists in Southeast Wisconsin. A portion of the proceeds from the June 3-4 event will go to Rotary Club of Milwaukee and Shorewood SEED Foundation.

“Dominion Properties has been investing in local neighborhoods since 2000 and an important part of that is engaging with the organizations that make our communities stronger and the creators who make them more vibrant,” said Dominion Properties CEO Mike O’Connor. Added Dominion Properties Chief Technology Officer Christopher Adams: “We can’t wait to open the doors and welcome everyone to the Shorewood Hub to share what these brilliant artists are doing.”

A panel that included Dominion Properties, Tricia Blasko, curator of education at Racine Art Museum (RAM), and Alan Perlstein, co-founder of the Lily Pad West Gallery in Milwaukee’s Third Ward, chose the artist lineup after a call for entries was issued to Southeast Wisconsin artists. Selected artists work in a variety of formats, including oil, watercolor, encaustic, sculpture, photography and digital. The works range from representational to abstract. The group includes well known figures from the area art scene such as Carlotta Miller, Maximiano Janario, Joshua McGowan, Julia Taylor, and Hugo Saavedra, as well as emerging artists. Eight of the 40 hale from Shorewood.

“It was a pleasure serving as a juror and seeing such a wide body of work from so many talented artists,” commented RAM’s Blasko. Lily Pad West’s Perlstein said “Whether you’re an active collector looking to acquire a piece by the next hometown breakout artist or just a casual browser mainly interested in learning about what your most creative neighbors are doing, there’s going to be something for you at this show.”

FRESH 40 artists will receive 60 percent of the proceeds from sales, while the balance, after expenses, will be donated to Rotary Club of Milwaukee and Shorewood SEED Foundation, which provides funding to support Shorewood schools.

Dominion Properties plans to purchase up to a dozen works from the exhibition for placement in the Shorewood Hub building. Dominion’s Hotel Verdant in Racine, Wis., will display some 200 works by local artists when it opens later this summer. The company views the FRESH 40 exhibit as a way to lay the foundation for a similar collaboration for a major project planned near their Shorewood Hub building.
