Following the Anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare Becoming Law, Congressman Tom Tiffany Is More Determined Than Ever to Raise Healthcare Costs
MADISON, Wis. — Following the anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare becoming law, Congressman Tom Tiffany is more determined than ever to gut the programs thousands of Wisconsinites rely on to afford care. In Congress, Tiffany helped introduce an extreme plan that would turn Medicare into a voucher system. He also voted against a bill providing federal incentives for Wisconsin Medicaid expansion and allowing prescription drug price negotiation under Medicare, and even voted against a bill that lowered prescription drug prices and healthcare costs for seniors.
“Congressman Tiffany is dead-set on making it harder on Wisconsinites to pay for the healthcare they need,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Tiffany is against Medicaid, against Medicare, and against bringing down prescription drug costs for working people.”
Following Trump’s announcement for plans to levy steep tariffs on generic prescription drugs, the Trump administration announced a new policy to end subsidies that help hold down premiums on Medicare drug plans. Congressman Tom Tiffany, Trump’s endorsed candidate for governor, cosponsored generic prescription drug import taxes in a 2020 bill that was so extreme only two other members of Congress cosponsored it.
