Fitzgerald Statement on Judiciary Committee Passage of FISA Reforms
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued the following statement after passage of H.R. 6570, the Protect Liberty and End Warrantless Surveillance Act, which reins in the FBI’s abuses of FISA Section 702 querying.
“I was happy to join my Judiciary Committee colleagues today in passing an overwhelmingly bipartisan bill to reauthorize Section 702 of FISA, including important updates to rein in the FBI’s querying procedures,” said Rep. Fitzgerald. “This bill limits the number of FBI personnel who can query U.S. person data and imposes more stringent reporting requirements and accountability measures to ensure FBI’s abuse of Section 702 can never happen again.”NOTE: This press release was submitted to Urban Milwaukee and was not written by an Urban Milwaukee writer.
