Exploring state lawmakers’ “New Opportunities for Milwaukee”
Statement of Alderman Ashanti Hamilton January 30, 2015
During Monday’s (February 2) meeting of the Judiciary and Legislation Committee, which I chair, we will be discussing an anti-poverty proposal for Milwaukee, announced earlier this week by Sen. Alberta Darling and Rep. Dale Kooyenga, entitled “New Opportunities for Milwaukee.”
I look forward to discussing the state lawmakers’ proposal, and I also look forward to seeing how it compares to what we’ve been doing here in the city for some time.
I would like to extend an invitation for Sen. Darling and Rep. Kooyenga to take part in this meeting to explain their plans in further detail and build upon the discourse between the City of Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin, and I hope they are able to attend.
NOTE: Monday’s meeting of the Judiciary and Legislation Committee begins at 1:30 p.m. in room 301-B at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St., and will be televised live on the City Channel and at milwaukee.gov/citychannel.
