DWD Offers Online Resource for Public Access to Equal Rights Data

MADISON — As part of continuing, agency-wide modernization efforts, the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has expanded its online equal rights resources to offer public access to civil rights and labor standards data.

The new online research portal from DWD’s Equal Rights Division provides easy-to-use tools that allow users to view and filter data including successful mediation statistics and types of equal rights complaints received by law, basis, and county.

“DWD collaborates with employers, workers, governments, and educational institutions to promote a thriving Wisconsin economy,” said DWD Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek. “The launch of the Equal Rights Division’s new research portal reflects our continuing efforts to improve customer service and provide tools that support good business and employment decision making.”

The tool may be used by legal practitioners, employers, employees, job seekers, students, or the inquiring public. The portal also illustrates the number of mediations conducted by month and the percentage of mediations that result in resolution.

“The increased transparency provided by the research portal will help employers, researchers, and policy-makers pursue changes that support Wisconsin as a fair and just place for all people to work,” Equal Rights Division Administrator Jesús Villa said.

In addition to the research portal, DWD’s Equal Rights Division has expanded access to its services through secure online filing for labor standards and certain civil rights complaints. The division also has launched a series of videos and other resources describing various steps of the complaint process as well as a Welcome to the Workforce video library for teens.

DWD’s online research portal can be found on the DWD Equal Rights webpage.

Questions about the research portal may be directed to the Equal Rights Division.
