WMSE’s “Sunday Big Band Show” DJ, Dewey Gill, will be on NPR’s “Here and Now” program Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. on local affiliate WUWM. The story was recorded out of Boston Public Radio Station WBRU, and Dewey was interviewed by top reporter Jeremy Hobson about his knowledge of big band jazz. The Sunday Big Band Show is one of the great historical programs on WMSE. On the air for over 30 years, Dewey features the best in big band swing, jazz and even the occasional dixieland piece. Dewey dispenses his encyclopedic knowledge of big band music and all of its players.

“This is a big honor for Dewey and WMSE,” said Tom Crawford, WMSE’s general manager. “We are the only station in Milwaukee that has a weekly big band show and dedicated jazz programming. It’s great to see Dewey and the station receive national recognition.”

Should you miss tomorrow’s air date you can hear in the NPR archives, http://hereandnow.wbur.org/.
