DATCP Issues Public Health Alert for Rackow Family Sausage Sweet Maple Bacon Sticks with Bacon Due to Misbranding and Undeclared Allergen

 

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is issuing a public health alert for a ready-to-eat snack stick product, Sweet Maple Bacon Sticks with Bacon, produced by Rackow Family Sausage in Juda. This alert is due to the product being misbranded and containing an undeclared allergen.

The aforementioned product contains hydrolyzed soy protein, a known food allergen which was not declared on the product label. Product was sold at Rackow Family Sausage’s retail store on or before March 6, 2024.

DATCP is issuing this public health alert to ensure consumers with an allergy to soy are aware that this product should not be consumed. No illnesses have been reported as a result of consuming this product. Anyone with signs or symptoms of a foodborne illness or allergic reactions should contact their doctor.
