MILWAUKEE, Wis. (January 29, 2018) — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Meghan O’Connor has joined the firm’s Milwaukee office as a partner in its Health Law Practice Group.

O’Connor focuses her practice on issues related to data privacy and security, data breach, health information technology, and Internet of Things and connected medical devices, with special emphasis on HIPAA, HITECH, and state law compliance. She also provides legal and strategic counsel to health care, government, and corporate clients on a wide range of regulatory compliance, managed care, insurance, transactional, and general corporate matters.

Prior to entering private practice, O’Connor worked for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where she focused on federal health law and policy, conducted compliance reviews, and evaluated managed care contracts. She was most recently a shareholder and Chair of the Health Information Privacy and Security Team at a Milwaukee law firm. O’Connor received her law degree, cum laude, from Marquette University Law School and her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Lawrence University.

“Meghan brings a wealth of HIPAA and compliance experience,” said Milwaukee office managing partner, Katie Perhach. “She is an excellent lawyer and very active in the community – a great addition to our Milwaukee office and to our national Health Law team.”

Joining O’Connor in her transition to Quarles & Brady are two associates, Sarah Erdmann and Elizabeth Wamboldt. Erdmann is a member of the Firm’s Health Law Practice Group, focusing on data privacy and security, regulatory compliance, transactional, and general corporate matters within the health care sector. Wamboldt is joining as a member of Quarles & Brady’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. In that group, she will work closely with Linda Emery, who also recently joined the firm. Wamboldt focuses her practice on negotiating and drafting commercial software licensing contracts and IT professional service agreements, as well as data privacy and security.
