Danceworks’ DanceLAB Announces 2023 Summer Concert Series
June 23, 2023, Milwaukee, WI — Danceworks, Inc.’s DanceLAB is excited to announce the 2023 Summer Concert Series, starting with the third annual Rhythmworks: Swingin’ Algorhythms performance on July 15th and 16th, followed by a new show from Danceworks On Tap entitled, It’s Tappening!, premiering August 12th and 13th.

Rhythmworks: Swingin’ Algorhythms brings back flamenco extraordinaire Kerensa DeMars and African dance trailblazer Prince Adrian for a second year. Danceworks Artistic Director, Christal Wagner, showcases her fresh take on contemporary jazz with Danceworks Performance MKE as well as swing jazz performed by Danceworks Youth Performance Company.
New to the Danceworks stage are emerging K-Pop ensemble MkeMe Crew and Afro swing virtuoso Patrice Nasslang, rooting us to vernacular swing stylings of the 30’s, 40’s and today. Special Rhythmworks guests also include Hip Hop duo Gabi Sustache and Wezley Turner. This summer’s Danceworks’ Performance Workshop Series features choreography by Danceworks K-Pop instructor Alex Vanissaveth and a crew of 15 performers!

Danceworks On Tap presents, It’s Tappening!, a lively tap dance concert featuring original works that celebrate the union of movement and sound. Join Danceworks on Tap and guest performers to experience the diversity of percussive dance and catch the rhythm!
Choreographers for this exciting show include Danceworks On Tap Artistic Director, Amy Brinkman, as well as company members Tori Isaac, Gabi Sustache, and Tina Wozniak. Professional tap dancer and Danceworks faculty member Richard Ashworth will also be setting choreography on the company as well as creating new work with Danceworks Tap Performance Workshop.
