Criminal charges issued against the suspect involved in the homicide of Community Service Officer Naeem Sarosh

On Monday, August 31, 2020, Naeem Sarosh, a Community Service Officer (CSO) employed by the Milwaukee Police Department was fatally shot while off-duty. This tragic incident occurred on the 4800 block of South 22nd Place at approximately 6:00 p.m.

The investigation revealed that this incident stemmed from a neighbor dispute. The suspect, Mohammed Afzal, was arrested shortly after the incident.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued one count of First Degree Reckless Homicide, use of a dangerous weapon against Afzal for his involvement in the homicide of CSO Sarosh. If found guilty, Afzal could face up to 65 years in prison.

Acting Chief Michael Brunson and the entire Milwaukee Police Department continues to send condolences and prayers to the Sarosh family.
