County Clerk Czarnezki Issuing Same Sex Marriage Licenses
Milwaukee County Clerk Joe Czarnezki announced that he is now issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples.
Milwaukee County Clerk Joe Czarnezki announced that he is now issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples.
The announcement comes in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to reject the State of Wisconsin’s appeal of decisions issued by the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. District Court Judge Barbara Crabb declaring Wisconsin’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional.
Czarnezki explained that the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to not take up the matter allows the prior rulings to take effect immediately.
“The lower courts stayed their decisions to allow the U.S. Supreme to consider their rulings. Now that the highest court in the nation spoken, marriage equality is the law in Wisconsin,” Czarnezki said.
