Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs invites residents to attend tonight’s Town Hall meeting, Creating Constructive Public Dialogue for Selecting Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) Chief of Police. The event will take place TONIGHT (Wednesday, January 31) from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM at the Wisconsin Black Historical Society/Museum, 2620 W. Center St.

The Fire and Police Commission (FPC) has begun the process of selecting an Interim Chief of Police who will begin leading the agency on February 16th. The town hall meeting is an opportunity for community members to share their views on desired qualifications for any Chief of Police. This information will be provided to the FPC and utilized as a component of community feedback/ input during the selection process.

Moderators are Donsia Strong Hill, LISC Milwaukee Executive Director and Fred Royal, President of the NAACP Milwaukee Branch and CC4QPC member. A five-member panel of experts will participate in the meeting to share their desired qualities and discuss why positive community and police interactions are critical. Most importantly, the panel will be available to respond to community feedback. A light meal will be provided.
