Brewers Announce 2024 Player Development Staff

The Milwaukee Brewers today announced their player development staff for the 2024 season, including Minor League managers and coaches for their seven affiliates.

Spencer Allen has been promoted to director of player development after spending last season as field coordinator and outfield and baserunning instructor. He joined the organization in 2022 as assistant field coordinator. Juan Sandoval has been promoted to assistant pitching coordinator after spending his first two seasons (2022-23) in the organization as a pitching coach in the Dominican Republic. Manuel Vargas (director of Latin America operations) and Juan De Leon (coordinator of Latin America operations) were promoted to new roles at the team’s Dominican Academy last February.

Entering his 16th season with the Brewers, Matt Erickson takes over as infield coordinator after serving as a roving infield instructor in 2023. Mike Guerrero, who is entering his 29th season in the Brewers organization, will transition to a roving infield instructor role in 2024 after spending the past eight seasons managing at Double-A Biloxi. In 26 seasons as a Minor League manager – including 25 seasons as a skipper with the Brewers – Guerrero accumulated 1,445 regular-season wins.

Dallas Correa has been hired as catching coordinator after two seasons (2022-23) at the University of Hawai’i, where he most recently was an assistant coach. He previously served as head coach at Hawai’i Pacific University from 2019-21.

Luisa Gauci becomes the first female coach in the Brewers organization as she has been added as a hitting coach for the ACL Brewers. Gauci most recently worked as an assistant coach at Phoenix College last fall and was the manager of baseball technologies at Driveline Baseball Enterprises, Inc. where she began working in 2020.

Victor Rey joins the organization as Dominican Republic field coordinator and manager of DSL Brewers 1 following two seasons (2022-23) managing the DSL Yankees.

  • Joe Ayrault to Double-A Biloxi as manager (manager at Class-A Wisconsin)
  • Victor Estevez to Class-A Wisconsin as manager (manager at Class-A Carolina)
  • Nick Stanley to Class-A Carolina as manager (bench coach at Double-A Biloxi)
  • Victor Rey to DSL Brewers 1 manager/DR field coordinator (manager at DSL Yankees)
  • David Tufo to Triple-A Nashville as bench coach (bench coach at Class-A Wisconsin)
  • Eric Theisen to Triple-A Nashville as a hitting coach (will continue as assistant hitting coordinator)
  • Fidel Peña to Double-A Biloxi as bench coach (DR field coordinator/manager at DSL Brewers 1)
  • J.J. Reimer to Double-A Biloxi as hitting coach (hitting coach at Class-A Carolina)
  • Liu Rodríguez to Class-A Carolina as a coach (coach at Triple-A Nashville)
  • Austin Turner to Class-A Carolina as hitting coach (hitting coach at DSL Brewers 2)
  • Jesús Hernández to ACL Brewers as a pitching coach (pitching coach at DSL Brewers 2)
  • Blake Nation to ACL Brewers as a pitching coach (development coach at DSL Brewers 2)
  • Jorge Ortega to DSL Brewers 1 as pitching coach (bullpen coach at Class-A Carolina)
  • Joan Abreu to hitting coach at DSL Brewers 1 (coach at DSL Brewers 1)
