Brewers Acquire Right-Handed Pitcher J.C. Mejía From Guardians

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitcher J.C. Mejía from the Cleveland Guardians for a player to be named or cash. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations David Stearns.

Mejía, 25, made his Major League debut with Cleveland last season, making 17 appearances, including 11 starts. He posted a 1.80 ERA as a reliever (10ip, 6h, 2r, 2er, 2bb, 11k) as opponents batted just .176 (6-for-34).

Signed by Cleveland in 2013 as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic, Mejía is 19-20 with a 3.12 ERA and 16 saves in 109 career Minor League appearances (31 starts).
