Milwaukee, WI – The Brady Street Business Improvement District will hold the popular Brady Street Pet Parade Presented by Lakefront Brewery on Sunday, October 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This family-friendly event encourages pet owners to get creative and dress-up their critters for a chance to win prizes. Prize categories include Best Costume, Best Tail Wagging, Best Pet/Owner Look-Alike, and Weirdest Pet contests. The contest starts at 12:00 p.m. Matt Wild of Milwaukee Record will be the event emcee, and Ruthie Weatherly, Tyler Maas of Milwaukee Record, and Dan Shafer of The Recombobulation Area will be the contest judges.

“The Pet Parade is one of our most popular and beloved events on Brady Street, and we anticipate a ridiculously cute turnout,” said Rachel Taylor, Executive Director for the Brady Street BID.

The event is free to attend, but tickets are sold to participate in the pet contests, with all fees donated to Urban Cat Coalition. Tickets are sold per pet; $15 for one pet, $25 for two pets, and $35 for three pets. You’re welcome to have your pet participate in some or all of the contests. We will have prizes for 1st and 2nd place in each category.

Purchase tickets to participate in the pet contests at Eventbrite.

The parade starts at 1 p.m. and will go from Brady Street and Franklin Place west to Cass Street, and then turn north to Pearson Street. From Pearson, the parade will move east to Humboldt Avenue, and finally south to St. Hedwig Church. Father Tim Kitzke will perform the pet blessing on the stairs of St. Hedwig Church.

This event will have local vendors lining Brady Street, from Warren to Humboldt. GEM PhotoMKE’s Meg Strobel will be on hand for free pet portraits, and Mars Creations will do face painting. The folks from Lilliput Records will be on-site spinning tunes during the festivities and hosting a sidewalk sale as well.

Sponsors include Lakefront Brewery, Skilos: A Family Pet Store, HiHat/Garage, Jo-Cats Pub, 91.7 WMSE, and Milwaukee Record.
