Bel Canto Chorus Presents “Christmas in the Basilica” – A Joyful Celebration of the Season, and the 15th and final holiday Basilica performance for Music Director Richard Hynson

MILWAUKEE – December 7, 2023 – Ring in the holidays with Bel Canto Chorus‘ much-anticipated annual holiday concert, “Christmas in the Basilica,” with performances taking place December 8-10 in the exquisite Basilica of St. Josaphat in the heart of Milwaukee. This beloved tradition promises to be a magnificent evening of music and merriment, heralding the arrival of the holiday season in grand style.

Audiences can expect to be transported to a winter wonderland as Bel Canto Chorus presents a repertoire of timeless holiday carols and songs of the season by Michelle and Richard Hynson, including a musical setting of The Christmas Story. Bel Canto Chorus will be joined for these four performances by the Homestead High School Treble Choir, under the direction of Paul Oestreich.

This performance will be the 15^th and final Christmas at the Basilica performance for Music Director Richard Hynson and Assistant Conductor and Accompanist Michelle Hynson before retiring at the end of the 2023-24 season. This is Richard Hynson’s 36th season conducting Bel Canto Chorus.

The Basilica of St. Josaphat provides a stunning backdrop for this festive event, with its breathtaking architecture and acoustics that complement the chorus’s rich sound. Attendees will not only be treated to a musical feast for the ears but will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere of the holiday season.
