Baldwin Secures $13.4 Million for New Business Accelerator to Support Great Lakes Economy and Resiliency
Announcement comes after Baldwin called on NOAA to invest in the Great Lakes
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) announced that Wisconsin-based gener8tor has been selected to launch the “gener8tor Great Lakes Innovation Accelerator.” gener8tor has been awarded $13.4 million to support entrepreneurs and small businesses develop new technologies to help Great Lakes coastal communities build resilience and grow the maritime economy. The business accelerator has been launched under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Ocean-Based Climate Resilience Accelerators program, funded by the Baldwin-backed Inflation Reduction Act.
This announcement comes after Senator Baldwin called on the NOAA to prioritize the investment of Inflation Reduction Act funds in programs and infrastructure that will advance research, enhance resilience, and support the management of the Great Lakes. With the funding, gener8tor will provide guidance, support, and funding to help small businesses scale quickly, spurring the development of technologies and services that enhance the Great Lakes region’s economic and environmental resilience.
