Alderman Chambers to meet with DPW commissioner about snow and ice removal issues
Statement of Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr. February 27, 2023
I have scheduled a meeting with Department of Public Works Commissioner Jerrel Kruschke to discuss recent city snow and ice removal issues that we have seen in some residential neighborhoods in the 2nd District.
Following recent snow and ice events, city DPW crews have been working diligently to clear residential streets in the 2nd District, but we have seen situations that call into question whether there is sufficient oversight by DPW. There have also clearly been instances where residents have not moved parked vehicles as needed, making the job of DPW plow crews that much more challenging in terms of clearing streets from curb to curb.I want our residents to travel on streets that are as clear as possible of ice and snow, and I will be looking for help from Commissioner Kruschke to let me know how we can best make that happen after every measurable snow/ice event.
As always, residents looking to report snow or ice covered streets, please call 414-286-CITY (414-286-2489).
