People gather on a bridge spanning Lincoln Creek near 47th and Congress streets in Milwaukee during a walk to celebrate Harriet Tubman Day on March 9, 2024 co-led by Nearby Nature and River Revitalization Foundation. About 30 people, including Representatives Supreme Moore Omokunde (D), who represents the 17th Wisconsin Assembly District through which this reach of Lincoln Creek flows, and Darrin Madison, Jr. (D), who represents the 10th District, which encompasses the Milwaukee River as it flows through Glendale (including the Kletzsch Dam) and the western part of Lincoln Park downstream of the Milwaukee River oxbow into which Lincoln Creek flows. The walk started in Harriet Tubman Park, renamed in 2021 in honor of the abolitionist, civil rights activist, suffragette, and Underground Railroad conductor, and followed the concrete-channel-lined Wahl Creek to where it flows into more naturalized channel of Lincoln Creek.
