A.S.K. Workshop Program

March 16 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

The ASK (Access, Support, Knowledge) Workshop program was developed by Mental Health Advocate and former Outreach and Education Director for the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Greater Milwaukee Brenda Wesley to educate the African-American Community and provide access to care for those who need it. Brenda, along with Terri Ellzey, a licensed professional counselor and clinical substance abuse counselor and Mary Neubauer, MSW, CPS and trauma consultant, will lead the program, which consists of eight conversations over three sessions: The first session will address “Why is the Village Burning?, making the connection between generational trauma and mental health. Subsequent sessions will go into further detail, discussing these topics: “Intro to Mental Health;” “Child Development,” “Trauma,” “Psychotropic Medication,” “Addiction & Substance Abuse,” “Anti-Stigma,” “Jails, Prison & Homeless Shelters,” and “Relationships, Coping & Self-Care.” Funded by the Charles E. Kubly Foundation

These conversations will be taking place at the Center Street Branch Library (2727 W. Fond du Lac Ave) from 1-4 pm on Saturdays, March 16, April 13, and May 11.
