WEST ALLIS, WIS – The City of West Allis is confirming that a fire occurred around 10:30 a.m. this morning at the construction site of the new Department of Public Works (DPW) building, located at 1906 S. 53rd St. (53rd Street and Burnham Street).

The fire was initially reported as coming from the roof of the structure. West Allis Fire Department units arrived on scene within approximately three minutes and found the roof significantly involved in fire. Due to the conditions encountered, the incident was escalated to a three-alarm response, prompting assistance from neighboring agencies.

More information will be shared as soon as it is received and confirmed.

The City is grateful for the swift actions of first responders and their ongoing efforts to ensure safety at the scene. Additional updates regarding the cause of the fire and any potential impact on the construction timeline will be provided as they become available.
