Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Launches None of the Above and Clean Slate Initiatives

By - Jul 14th, 2026 02:35 pm

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) is pleased to announce two new policy initiatives adopted by the Executive Committee during its June meeting: the None of the Above Initiative and the Clean Slate Initiative.

These initiatives reflect the party’s commitment to expanding individual liberty, increasing voter choice, and removing unnecessary barriers that prevent people from fully participating in society.

The None of the Above Initiative will explore legislation and public education efforts to give Wisconsin voters a meaningful way to reject all listed candidates when they believe none have earned their support. The LPWI believes voters deserve more choices at the ballot box, not fewer.

The Clean Slate Initiative will focus on advancing policies that help individuals move beyond past mistakes after they have completed their sentences and demonstrated rehabilitation. By reducing unnecessary barriers to employment, housing, and opportunity, Wisconsin can strengthen communities while respecting individual responsibility.

Work on both initiatives is already underway. The LPWI has begun outreach to organizations involved in Clean Slate reform and is assembling volunteers to help research, develop, and promote both efforts.

“Libertarians believe government should empower people, not trap them in systems that limit opportunity or force false choices,” said LPWI Chair Reese Wood. “These initiatives represent practical, liberty-minded reforms that can improve the lives of Wisconsinites while encouraging greater participation in our democratic process.”

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin invites members, policy experts, and interested citizens to participate in the development of these initiatives as they move forward.
