Wisconsin GOP Welcomes WEC Investigation Into Green Bay Clerk Celestine Jeffreys for Mailing Duplicate Ballots
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Republican Party welcomes the Wisconsin Elections Commission‘s (WEC) formal investigation into Green Bay City Clerk Celestine Jeffreys following reports of duplicate ballots being mailed to voters. While this represents an important first step toward accountability, the WisGOP stressed that the Commission must follow through with meaningful changes to ensure this does not happen for a third time.
“Election integrity is foundational to our democracy, and repeated failures like this erode public trust. Clerk Jeffreys has proven she is incapable of administering elections,” said WisGOP Chairman Brian Schimming. “WEC’s investigation is a necessary first step, but an inquiry alone is not enough. Green Bay’s mailing of duplicate ballots is unacceptable. WEC must act decisively to identify the root causes, hold Clerk Jeffreys accountable, and implement safeguards so that this doesn’t happen a third time. Voters deserve elections they can trust.”
This year alone, Clerk Jeffreys has sent out duplicate ballots for the April election and now the August primary. The Wisconsin Republican Party will continue to monitor the investigation closely and advocate for the highest standards of election integrity across the state.
