Milwaukee Recreation Announces Special Olympics Tournament at Wick Playfield
Event will take place July 18f
On Saturday, July 18 athletes from across southeastern Wisconsin will gather at Wick Playfield for an annual Special Olympics Tournament. The tournament will feature competition in bocce ball, softball, and tee ball from 8:00am – 2:00pm. This long-standing tradition has provided meaningful competition opportunities for Special Olympics athletes for more than 25 years.
More than 20 Special Olympics agencies have been invited to participate, including Walworth, Kenosha, Racine, Western Racine, Fort Atkinson, Southern Lakes, North Suburban, Wauwatosa, YMCA Pabst Farms, West Allis, Prader-Willi Homes, Spring City, Ozaukee, Hartford, Waukesha, West Bend, New Berlin, Bi-County, and Team Milwaukee.
The Wick Playfield Tournament serves as an important qualifying opportunity for athletes working toward regional and state competition. Special Olympics teams are required to complete two qualifying games before registering for regional tournaments, making this event an essential step in the competitive season.
Community members are encouraged to attend, cheer on the athletes, and celebrate the determination, teamwork, and spirit that define Special Olympics competition.
