MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee County Supervisor Sky Z. Capriolo is inviting residents of all ages and skill levels to take part in the Jackson Park Farmers Market Pickleball Series, a new community initiative bringing recreation, wellness, and neighborhood engagement together at the newly constructed pickleball courts in Jackson Park.
The Pickleball Series features beginner clinics, competitive tournament play, and a unique “Play with Your Elected Officials” scramble tournament alongside the weekly Jackson Park Farmers Market, held Thursdays from 3 to 6:30 p.m. through October 1. Upcoming events include an Intermediate and Advanced Tournament on Thursday, July 9, followed by a free Learn to Play Clinic on August 6 and the beginner-friendly “Play with Your Elected Officials” Scramble Tournament on August 27.
“The new pickleball courts at Jackson Park have quickly become another great community asset, and this series is an exciting way to bring people together through recreation,” said Supervisor Sky. “Whether you’re an experienced player, trying pickleball for the first time, or simply visiting the Farmers Market, there’s something for everyone. These events promote healthy living, strengthen community connections, and showcase another fantastic reason to visit one of Milwaukee County’s great parks.”
The July 9 tournament will feature teams competing in an intermediate-to-advanced bracket, while the August 27 “Play with Your Elected Officials” scramble tournament will pair community members with local elected officials in a fun, beginner-friendly format. Several local and state elected officials have committed to participating in the August 27 event.
The Pickleball Series is organized in partnership with the Jackson Park Farmers Market and Coach James Haas. Milwaukee County Parks is supporting the series by providing equipment and amenities throughout the summer. Registration is required for all events.
The Pickleball Series also highlights Milwaukee County’s investment in expanding recreational opportunities at Jackson Park. The newly constructed pickleball courts, along with a new tennis court and futsal court, have transformed the park into an even more vibrant destination for recreation, wellness, and community connection. The series showcases these new amenities while encouraging residents to enjoy everything Jackson Park and its weekly Farmers Market have to offer.
