Milwaukee Police Department Launches Two New Public-Facing Data Tools
MILWAUKEE, WI – The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) is proud to introduce two new public-facing data tools, now available at:
https://city.milwaukee.gov/police/Information–Services
With the partnership and critical support of Common Council President José Pérez, MPD has expanded its commitment to transparency by providing the community with realtime access to calls for service data and arrest data. While data regarding major crimes has been available on an interactive public dashboard, MPD’s Office of Management, Analysis and Planning (OMAP) has developed two additional interactive dashboards that broaden public-facing data–the Arrest Dashboard and the Calls for Service Dashboard. Details are outlined below:
Arrest Dashboard:
This dashboard displays all MPD arrests from the past six months on a rolling basis. Users can filter information by statute or ordinance, arrest type (felony, misdemeanor, or ordinance), or arrest date. A colorcoded map highlights arrest locations by ZIP code. Each selection made by the user updates the entire dashboard instantly to reflect the chosen criteria.
Calls for Service Dashboard:
This dashboard shows all calls for service responded to by MPD within the past 60 days on a rolling basis. Users can filter results by event type and geographic boundaries such as police district, aldermanic district, or neighborhood. The dashboard also provides details on eventtype priority levels and how MPD resolved each call. As with the Arrest Dashboard, all data updates automatically based on user selections. A colorcoded map displays event types using 0.1squaremile hexagons to ensure victim privacy.
MPD remains committed to providing transparent and meaningful policing data to the community we serve. This initiative reinforces our belief that we are truly better when we work together. We are grateful for the collaboration of the Milwaukee Common Council and the continued support of the Mayor’s Office in promoting transparent data to the community that we serve.
