WisDOT Seeks Public Comment on State Freight Plan’s Draft Public Involvement Plan
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is inviting public comment and feedback on the 2027 State Freight Plan’s draft Public Involvement Plan (PIP). WisDOT updates the State Freight Plan every four years so that it accurately reflects, considers and addresses the state’s current and future freight needs. The draft PIP is available for review here.
A crucial part of the State Freight Plan is public engagement, which includes the general public and all affected stakeholders in the statewide transportation planning process. This feedback will help WisDOT integrate freight considerations in future construction projects and prioritize future freight-related projects for funding. These future investments position Wisconsin to remain competitive in the global marketplace. The draft PIP identifies the communication and outreach processes that WisDOT will follow during the update of the State Freight Plan.Feedback on the Public Involvement Plan will be open for 45 days (through Friday July 17, 2026). After that date all feedback will be considered for inclusion in the final PIP. Feedback may be submitted by mail, email or phone:
